Earth Day Events in Atlanta: Celebrate Earth Day 2026 the Atlanta Way

Looking for Earth Day events in Atlanta? Here's your complete guide to festivals, volunteer opportunities, family activities, and eco-friendly local businesses celebrating Earth Day 2026.

Earth Day, The Atlanta Way

Earth Day in Atlanta has a way of bringing things back to the basics, reminding us to slow down, check in, and reconnect with the green spaces around us. In Atlanta, that might look like getting outside after work and catching the sunset on the BeltLine. It might look like supporting local markets, exploring green spaces you've passed a hundred times but never stepped into, or choosing something fresh and plant-based.

The 2026 Earth Day theme, Our Power, Our Planet, is a reminder that the small, everyday choices we make matter. What we eat, where we go, and how we move through our routines all play a role in shaping something bigger. If you are looking for Earth Day events in Atlanta, here are a few ways to spend the day, or even the whole week, that feel natural, local, and easy to step into.

Start Outside: Parks, Trails, and Fresh Air

Some of the best Earth Day moments in Atlanta are already built into the city. During Earth Week, Trees Atlanta turns those everyday spots into guided walks that help you see them differently. The paths you pass without thinking twice start to reveal their layers. A little more history. A new perspective. A chance to learn something new while you are already out enjoying the day.

Earth Week Sunset Tree Tour

Date & Time: Tuesday, April 21 | 7 to 8:30 PM

Location: Inman Park

What better way to unwind after the workday than with an evening walk that feels very Atlanta? You will move through one of Atlanta’s most recognizable green spaces, the BeltLine Arboretum, passing public art, spotting Tiny Doors, and taking in skyline views while taking a deeper look at what is growing and changing along the trail.

The tour ends just at Ponce City Market, just as the sun sets over the city, making it an easy way to keep the night going.

Earth Week Tree Tour: The Secrets of Chastain Park

Date & Time: Sunday April 19 |  9 to 10:30 AM

Location: Chastain Memorial Park

Start the day with a stroll through one of Atlanta’s largest parks, where you will hear the stories behind the landscape and the layers of history built into the space.

You will move through tree-lined paths while learning about native species, local ecology, and the details that are easy to miss in your usual routine. It is easy to think of Chastain as just a place to run or spend a Saturday, but there is more to it. Some of that history still lingers in unexpected ways. From hidden corners to stories tied to the land itself, even traces of places like the once-known “Witches Cave” add another layer to what might otherwise go unnoticed.

Spend the Day with Community

Not every Earth Day moment happens on a trail. Some of it shows up in what people create. Across Atlanta, markets and community gatherings bring a more hands-on side of sustainability to life. Local artists, growers, and organizations are rethinking materials, giving new life to what already exists, and creating space for people to engage in their own way.

Earth Day Fest: Makers, Plants, & Recycled Art

Date & Time: Saturday April 18 | 12 to 5 PM

Location: East Atlanta Village Farmers Market

Earth Day shows up here through what people make, reuse, and pass along. Set in the park, this market brings together local artists, vintage finds, handmade goods, and live music for an afternoon rooted in creativity and sustainability. There is also a plant swap running all day, a low-key favorite if you know to look for it. Bring a cutting and leave with something new.

Hydration Tip: Grab a juice or smoothie on your way at our L5P location to stay refreshed as you explore everything the market has to offer!

Hosted by the Georgia Forestry Foundation, this event brings together nonprofits, educational groups, and advocacy organizations for a day centered on environmentalism, with plenty of ways to engage throughout.

Bring Earth Day Home

Earth Day is a reminder that small choices add up, especially when we start making them together. This year’s theme, Our Power, Our Planet, speaks to that. The everyday decisions we make on our own start to carry more weight when they become shared habits across a community.

Finished your juice? Before you toss the bottle in recycling, give it a second life:

  • Turn it into a watering can for your plants

  • Use it as a small planter for herbs

  • Repurpose it for smoothies, infused water, or storage

It is not about doing everything. It is about more of us doing a little and continuing to build on it together.
